Last month, I went hunting with two college colleagues, Emma Eliot and Sara Clarissa, to the Osceola Wildlife Management Area in Florida. It is a national forest covering more than 260,000 acres with a variety of natural landscapes and abundant wildlife. We planned to spend a weekend there and experience the fun of night hunting. In order to be able to see the target clearly in the dark, we must prepare some infrared binoculars. After some searching online, we decided to buy Wildguarder, a Chinese brand of infrared binoculars, because it is very cost-effective and has a lot of good reviews. We received the goods quickly and couldn’t wait to try them out. Next, I will detail our hunting trip and the surprises that Wildguarder infrared binoculars have brought us.
Our destination is the Osceola Wildlife Management Area, a national forest in northeast Florida that covers more than 260,000 acres. It was established in 1931 by U.S. President Hoover in honor of the famous Seminole warrior Osceola. There are a variety of natural attractions, such as open pine plains, sand dunes and cypress swamps, and a 21-mile National Scenic Trail. These places provide habitat for many rare flora and fauna, such as the red-crowned woodpecker, the Florida black bear, the eastern indigo, the dune turtle, the lemus squirrel, and more. We can enjoy the beautiful nature here and also observe the activities of various wild animals.
We set up a tent at the West Tower camping area, which has stables and a 50-mile horseback riding trail. We brought our own horses and planned to explore the forest on horseback during the day. We followed the trail and saw some interesting sights such as Mt. Carrie Wayside, a parking lot with interpretive signs, introduces the history and ecology of the forest. We also saw Ocean Pond, a 1,760-acre natural lake that offers recreational activities such as fishing, boating, swimming, and water skiing. We rested by the lake for a while and enjoyed the feeling of the breeze on the lake.
In the afternoon, we returned to the camping area and prepared dinner and hunting gear. We plan to hunt some small animals such as rabbits, raccoons and wild boars at night. In order to be able to see the target clearly in the dark, we must use infrared binoculars. We chose Wildguarder, a Chinese brand of infrared binoculars, because it has many advantages, such as:
• It has a large 2.7-inch LCD screen that allows us to see the picture clearly without having to keep the optical viewfinder attached.
• It has a powerful infrared illuminator that can be viewed up to 984 feet in complete darkness.
• It has three zoom levels: 1X, 2X and 3X. We can adjust the magnification according to our needs.
• It can shoot clear pictures and videos with 1920X1080 pixels, and has 7 IR adjustment levels to adapt to different dark environments.
• It has a rechargeable lithium battery that can last for more than 6 hours.
We set off with our wildguarder infrared binoculars. We walked a bit along Hog Pen Landing Road before heading into the forest. We turned on the infrared binoculars and began to look for a target. Soon, we found some animal tracks and sounds. We approached them carefully and observed their behavior and position with infrared binoculars. We found the Wildguarder infrared binoculars to be very useful, allowing us to see well in the dark and took some great pictures and videos. We also managed to hit several rabbits and raccoons.
We chose Wildguarder, a Chinese brand of infrared binoculars, because it has many features and advantages that make our hunting trip smoother and more enjoyable.
The 2.7-inch LCD screen allows us to see the picture clearly without having to stick to the optical viewfinder all the time. In this way, we can observe the target more comfortably and also communicate with our peers more conveniently. Moreover, the LCD screen can also display some useful information, such as time, date, battery level, zoom level, etc.
Powerful infrared illuminator that can be viewed at a distance of up to 984 feet in complete darkness. It uses an infrared wavelength of 850nm and is almost invisible to the human eye, so it does not expose our location. It also has 7 IR adjustment levels, which can choose the right brightness according to different dark environments.
There are three zoom levels: 1X, 2X and 3X. We can adjust the magnification as needed to see the details of the target more clearly. It also has an all-optical system that provides high-definition and high-contrast images. Its eyepiece diameter is 31mm, which allows more light to enter and improves the brightness of the image.
It can shoot clear pictures and videos up to 1920×1080 pixels, and supports a 32GB memory card. This way, we can record some of the great images we see while hunting, and we can play them back or share them at any time. It also has a rechargeable lithium battery that can last for more than 6 hours.
This is a very cost-effective product, which brings a lot of convenience and surprises to our night hunting. It allowed us to see clearly in the dark and captured some memorable images. If you also like night hunting, I highly recommend you try Wildguarder, a Chinese brand of infrared binoculars.
In addition to hunting, we also tasted local delicacies that satisfied our taste buds. We camped at Ocean Pond Campground, which has a great lake that offers recreational activities such as fishing, boating, swimming and water skiing. We caught some largemouth bass and sun bass by the lake and grilled it fragrantly with the grill and spices we brought. The fish is tender and fresh, and with some salad and bread, it’s a hearty dinner. We also made some desserts with wild berries and fruits, such as blueberry pie and strawberry milkshakes, to sweeten our taste buds.
In addition to self catering at the camping area, we also went to some local restaurants and snack bars to try some specialty food and drinks. One of the places to recommend is Olustee Depot, a historic train station that is now converted into a museum and gift shop. There are some exhibitions and memorabilia about the Battle of Oulust, as well as some local produce and handicrafts. We bought some Florida honey, jam, peanut butter, smoked meats, cornbread etc here and it was delicious. We also had some local beer and cider which were all refreshing.
Another place to recommend is the Lake City Farmers Market, a farmers market open every Wednesday and Saturday with lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, flowers, and more. We bought some fruits like watermelon, peaches, bananas, mangoes and other fruits here, all sweet and juicy. We also bought some vegetables such as pumpkin, potatoes, onions, carrots and other vegetables to use in soups or salads. We also tried some local snacks like tacos, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream etc which were delicious.
After hunting, we tasted the local delicacies and satisfied our stomachs. We found that Florida has a lot of specialty food and drink that suits our tastes. We also enjoyed cooking and fishing by ourselves and felt the gift of nature.
That was the end of our hunting trip, we packed our things and got ready to go home. We spent an unforgettable weekend at the Osceola Wildlife Management Area and experienced a night hunt. We enjoyed the beautiful nature, observed a variety of wildlife, tasted the local cuisine, and made some new friends. We felt it was a very worthwhile trip, which relaxed us and increased our knowledge.
