Night hunting is a special adventure activity that allows us to observe and learn about those wild animals that are hard to see during the day. Last month, I and my two friends Ansel Carter and Adela Michael decided to go to Phayao in northern Thailand for a night hunting trip and experience this unique adventure.
Phayao is a beautiful and historic city located in the mountainous area between the Mekong and Chao Phraya river basins. It has a picturesque mountain lake called Kwan Phayao, which is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Thailand. Phayao’s history can be traced back to 900 years ago, when it was a semi-independent city-state kingdom. In the 13th century, it became an equal partner with the Lanna and Sukhothai kingdoms. Phayao not only has a rich cultural heritage, but also has diverse natural resources, making it an ideal tourist destination.
In order to go night hunting, we need to prepare some necessary equipment, the most important of which is night vision binoculars. This kind of binoculars can let us see the shape and movement of animals clearly in the dark, without disturbing their normal activities. We chose the Chinese brand wildguarder’s night vision binoculars, because they have high definition, long battery life, light weight and durability, and reasonable price.
In this article, I will introduce in detail the process and experience of our night hunting in Phayao, as well as the historical sites, scenic spots and delicacies we visited in the local area. I hope that through my sharing, you can feel the charm and fun of night hunting, and also have a deeper understanding of Phayao city.
To have a successful night hunting, we need to do a lot of preparation work, including choosing suitable equipment, clothing and transportation, as well as understanding the basic skills and precautions of night hunting.
First of all, we need to choose some equipment suitable for night hunting, the most important of which is night vision binoculars. This kind of binoculars can let us see the shape and movement of animals clearly in the dark, without disturbing their normal activities. We chose the Chinese brand wildguarder’s night vision binoculars, because they have high definition, long battery life, light weight and durability, and reasonable price. This binocular also has a special function, which is to connect to mobile phones or tablets via Wi-Fi, to achieve remote viewing and shooting. In this way, we can observe and record the behavior of wild animals at a safe distance, and also share them with others easily.
In addition to night vision binoculars, we also need some other equipment, such as flashlights, knives, first aid kits, water bottles, food and so on. Flashlights can be used for lighting and signaling, knives can be used for cutting and self-defense, first aid kits can be used for treating accidental wounds, water bottles and food can be used for replenishing energy. These equipment should be put in a backpack with moderate capacity, waterproof and dustproof, easy to carry and use.
Secondly, we need to choose some clothing and transportation suitable for night hunting. The clothing should be dark-colored, such as black, gray or camouflage, so as to reduce the possibility of being discovered by animals. The clothing should be comfortable and breathable, able to adapt to different temperature changes. The clothing should also have some protective performance, able to resist thorns, insects and animal attacks. The transportation should be able to adapt to various terrains and road conditions, such as off-road vehicles or motorcycles. The transportation should have good performance and maintenance, able to ensure safety and stability.
Finally, we need to understand some basic skills and precautions of night hunting. Night hunting should be done on a bright moon, clear weather, and low wind night, so as to improve the vision and hearing. Night hunting should be done in a place where animals are active and human interference is low, so as to increase the chance of encountering animals. Night hunting should keep quiet and patient, avoid making too much noise and light, so as not to disturb animals. Night hunting should respect animals and nature, avoid unnecessary harm and damage.
Through the above preparation work, we can start our night hunting trip.
After doing a lot of preparation work, we started our night hunting trip. We chose a bright moon, clear weather, and low wind night to do it, so as to improve the vision and hearing. We drove an off-road vehicle to a place where animals were active and human interference was low. This place was a hilly area with some woods and grasslands around. We parked the car in a hidden place, then took our equipment and quietly walked into the night world.
We put on wildguarder’s night vision binoculars, turned on the Wi-Fi function, put our mobile phones or tablets in our backpacks, so that we could remotely watch and shoot wild animals. We walked along a small road for a while and found a group of wild boars feeding on the grassland. We approached them a little bit and observed them with night vision binoculars. We saw that they were big and small, black and gray, some were digging the soil with their noses, some were gnawing the bark with their teeth, some were playing with each other. They looked happy and fearless. We took some photos and videos with our mobile phones and marveled at their vitality and adaptability.
We continued to walk forward and found a fox lurking in the woods. It had dark brown fur, bright yellow eyes that sparkled in the dark. It seemed to have found some prey and was ready to attack. We held our breath and watched it with night vision binoculars. Suddenly, it rushed out of the woods like a bullet and pounced on a bird that was pecking at food. The bird panicked and tried to fly away, but it was too late. The fox bit its neck accurately and quickly ran back to the woods. This was a life-and-death struggle, as well as a natural law. We admired the fox’s agility and intelligence, but also felt sorry for the bird’s fate.
We walked for a while longer and found a ferret playing by the water. It had black-and-white fur, slender and soft body that swam in the water. It looked naughty and curious. It noticed us and stopped to stare at us. We smiled at it and gestured with our fingers. It seemed to understand what we meant and imitated some of our movements or did the opposite ones. It also made some chirping noises as if it was talking to us. We thought it was cute and smart. We recorded this interesting interaction with our tablet computer and gave it a name: Xiao Bai.
In this way, we spent a night full of surprises and fun. We saw different kinds of animals with different personalities and felt their living conditions and emotional expressions. We recorded these unforgettable scenes with wildguarder’s night vision binoculars and shared them with others via Wi-Fi. We felt that night hunting was not only an adventure activity but also a learning activity. It made us more aware of and respect animals and nature.
After enjoying a wonderful night hunting trip, we didn’t go back to the hotel right away, but decided to continue exploring Phayao’s charm. We chose some interesting leisure activities, including visiting Phayao’s attractions, tasting local delicacies, and choosing and evaluating accommodation options.
First of all, we visited some famous attractions in Phayao, including:
• Wat Analayo Thipphayaram, a temple on the mountain that has spectacular Buddha statues and pagodas, and a viewing platform that overlooks Phayao Lake.
• Wat Si Khom Kham, a temple by the lake that houses the largest and oldest Buddha statue in Lanna Kingdom, called Phrachao Ton Luang.
• Wat Tilok Aram, a temple in the lake that can only be reached by boat, which is a historical and cultural heritage.
• Phu Langka Forest Park, a forest park in the mountainous area that has rich plant and animal resources, and a highland that can enjoy the sea of clouds and sunrise.
We recorded these beautiful and sacred scenes with our camera and felt the history and culture of Phayao.
Secondly, we tasted some of Phayao’s special delicacies, including:
• Khao Soi Kai, a soup noodle made with curry soup, noodles and chicken, which is a representative dish of northern Thailand.
• Sai Oua, a sausage made with pork, herbs and spices, which has a strong aroma and spiciness.
• Namphrik Num, a spicy sauce made with green chili, garlic, lemongrass and shrimp paste, which can be eaten with various vegetables and rice.
• Khanom Chin Nam Ngiao, a soup noodle made with rice noodles, pig blood, tomato and bean sprouts, which is a traditional delicacy of northern Thailand.
We tasted these delicious and spicy foods with our tongues and felt the flavor and characteristics of Phayao.
Finally, we chose a comfortable and clean hotel to stay in and evaluated it. We chose Phayao Gateway Hotel, a three-star hotel located in the city center. This hotel has spacious and modern rooms equipped with air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, safe and other facilities. The hotel also provides free Wi-Fi, parking lot, breakfast, gym and other services. The hotel staff are friendly and professional and can meet our various needs. We are very satisfied with this hotel and give it a five-star rating.
We think Phayao is a city worth visiting, not only because it has beautiful and sacred attractions, but also because it has delicious and spicy delicacies. We are also lucky and happy to experience night hunting, a special adventure activity.
Through this night hunting trip, I gained a lot. I not only saw different kinds of animals with different personalities but also visited some attractions in Phayao and tasted some local delicacies. I think night hunting is a very interesting and meaningful activity. It made me more aware of and respect animals and nature, and also broadened my horizons and increased my knowledge.
I also thank my two friends Ansel Carter and Adela Michael, who accompanied me to complete this journey. We shared happiness and surprises together, and also overcame difficulties and challenges together. We recorded these unforgettable scenes with wildguarder’s night vision binoculars and shared them with others via Wi-Fi. We think this binocular is an essential equipment for night hunting, as it allows us to see the shape and movement of animals clearly in the dark, without disturbing their normal activities. We also think this binocular’s Wi-Fi function is very convenient, as it allows us to remotely watch and shoot wild animals, and also share them with others easily.
I hope that through my sharing, you can feel the charm and fun of night hunting, and also have a deeper understanding of Phayao city. If you have the opportunity, I suggest you also try night hunting, I believe you will have an unforgettable memory.
