hunting

Have you ever thought about going hunting? For me and my two friends Burgess Bell and Atwood Watt, it has always been a dream adventure. We are all nature and exploration enthusiasts, so when we heard that Warroad has abundant wildlife and beautiful scenery, we decided without hesitation to experience it. However, we also knew that hunting is not an easy task, especially at night. We need to prepare the appropriate equipment and skills to ensure our safety and enjoyment. Therefore, last month, we started our hunting trip with our carefully selected night vision binoculars, heading to Warroad. In this article, I will share with you our hunting experience in Warroad, as well as our process of exploring and tasting local cuisine. I hope that through my narration, you can feel our joy and excitement and also have a deeper understanding of the city of Warroad.

Our hunting experience in Warroad was very exciting and unforgettable. We chose to hunt at night because we wanted to challenge ourselves and also see some animals that are not easily seen during the day. To ensure our safety and efficiency, we purchased a pair of night vision binoculars, the Bushnell Equinox Z2 4x50mm Digital Night Vision Binoculars, which allowed us to observe and aim at targets clearly in the dark. These night vision binoculars can also connect to our phones via Wi-Fi, allowing us to capture and share our hunting process. There are many public lands near Warroad available for hunting, and we mainly targeted deer, bears, grouses, and other animals. We found that the wildlife in Warroad is very abundant and diverse. Sometimes, we even saw rare species such as gray wolves and cougars. We were able to harvest several animals every day and sometimes enjoyed the beautiful scenery by the lake. We were very satisfied and proud of our hunting results.

We also encountered some difficulties and challenges while hunting. Firstly, hunting at night requires higher skills and patience because animals are usually more alert and concealed. We need to wait quietly for the right moment to shoot. Secondly, hunting at night also requires more safety measures because there may be some dangers and unforeseen situations in the dark. We need to maintain communication and cooperation at all times and follow some basic rules and guidelines. Finally, hunting at night also requires more physical and mental energy because we need to rest well during the day and stay alert and focused at night. We need to arrange our schedule and diet plan reasonably and carry some necessities. Despite this, we still feel that hunting at night is a very interesting and meaningful experience. It not only allows us to feel the charm and mystery of nature but also enhances our skills and confidence. We also deepened our friendship and understanding of each other during the hunting process, spending an unforgettable time together. We also learned a lot about animals and nature, as well as how to protect and respect them. We believe that hunting is not only an entertainment but also an education and responsibility. In the next paragraph, I will introduce to you our activities of exploring Warroad.

While hunting in Warroad, we also took the time to explore and taste the local cuisine. Warroad is a city with rich history and culture, offering many interesting sights and activities. We visited some notable places such as the Warroad Heritage Center3, The Shed1, and Doc’s Harbor Inn2, learning about the city’s Native American, logging, hockey, fishing, and lumber industry history and stories. We also went to Seven Clans Casino, experiencing the casino’s atmosphere and fun. Driving along the Waters of the Dancing Sky Scenic Byway, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and wildflowers.

The Warroad Heritage Center is a museum showcasing Warroad’s history and culture, located in the Warroad Point Park. Here, we saw precious photos, artifacts, clothing, tools, and more reflecting Warroad’s transformation and development from the 18th century to present day. We also saw displays of hockey players and Olympic champion Gigi Marvin and other celebrities. We were impressed and curious about Warroad’s history and traditions.

The Shed is a museum that collects classic and muscle cars, located on Hwy. 11 West. Here, we saw over 100 cars of various models and years, from the 1900s to modern times. These cars were collected and restored by Lake Country Chevrolet Buick owner Doug Lindner. We appreciated the cars’ appearance, interiors, and their stories and history. We were amazed and envious of these cars.

Doc’s Harbor Inn is a Victorian-style house built in 1914, located on the Warroad River. This house was once one of Warroad’s earliest hospitals, built and operated by Dr. Charles E. Powell. Now, the house has been transformed into an inn, providing comfortable and elegant accommodations. We toured the interior and exterior of the house, feeling its historical charm and modern style. We also saw some medical equipment and drugs used by Dr. Powell at the time.

Warroad’s cuisine also satisfied our appetites. We tried some local dishes such as the Hockeytown USA Burger, Lake of the Woods Walleye Sandwich, Warroad Breakfast Pizza, all of which were delicious and affordable. We also tasted some locally produced honey and jam, feeling the gifts of nature. Our exploration and enjoyment of Warroad’s sights and cuisine increased our love for this city and our respect and understanding of its people and culture.

Warroad has other sights and activities we were interested in, but didn’t have time to experience. For example, we could go to the Warroad Estates Golf Course to play golf and enjoy the lake view and challenging design. We could also go to The Gardens Arena to watch a hockey game or browse exhibits displaying the history of “HockeyTown USA™.” We could also visit Marvin Windows and Doors or Heatmor Inc. to see how they manufacture the world’s largest custom wood windows or outdoor furnaces. We could take a boat to Fort St. Charles to explore the fortress established in 1732 by French explorer Pierre Gaultier de Varennes.

Our exploration and enjoyment of Warroad’s sights and cuisine revealed the city’s charm and diversity. We appreciated both its natural and cultural landscapes and tasted its unique cuisine and agricultural products. We had a pleasant and fulfilling time in Warroad.
