I and Lydia Bert, Christopher Kingsley are college classmates, and we all love nature and adventure. After graduation, we never saw each other again, and we were busy with our own work and life. However, last month, we finally had a rare opportunity to go to Tiger Head Forest Park in Shijiazhuang, China for night hunting.

Why did we choose this place? Because we are all interested in Chinese culture and scenery, and Tiger Head Forest Park is a comprehensive tourist attraction that integrates mountains, forests, lakes, waterfalls, caves, and historical sites. It not only has beautiful natural scenery, but also rich wildlife resources, which is an ideal place for night hunting.

What is night hunting? Simply put, it is a way of exploring and appreciating nature by using special equipment, such as night vision binoculars and infrared binoculars, to observe and photograph the activities of wild animals at night. Night hunting is not really killing animals, but a way of exploring and appreciating nature. Night hunting can let us see animals that we usually can’t see, and also let us feel the mystery and excitement in the dark.

We three are looking forward to this night hunting trip, hoping to find some surprises and fun in Tiger Head Forest Park. Of course, we also did not forget to taste the local food, such as tiger head tofu, tiger head cake, tiger head fish and so on. These foods are named after tiger head, implying bravery and strength.

This is the beginning of our Shijiazhuang trip. Next, I will introduce in detail our tour experience in Tiger Head Forest Park, the preparation work for night hunting, the process and feelings of night hunting, and our impression and recommendation of local food. I hope you can feel the wonderful and unforgettable journey with me.

Our Shijiazhuang trip started from Tiger Head Forest Park. Tiger Head Forest Park is a comprehensive tourist attraction that integrates mountains, forests, lakes, waterfalls, caves, and historical sites. It is located at the junction of Hebei and Shanxi provinces, 150 kilometers away from Shijiazhuang city. It covers an area of 50 square kilometers. The highest point is Tiger Head Mountain with an altitude of 2017 meters. It is the second highest peak in Shijiazhuang city.

We took a bus from Shijiazhuang and enjoyed the magnificent scenery of Taihang Mountain along the way. We felt the magic of nature. We arrived at the entrance of Tiger Head Forest Park in the afternoon. After buying tickets, we started our exploration journey.

We first climbed Tiger Head Mountain, which is the main peak and the symbol of the park. Tiger Head Mountain got its name because it looks like a tiger lying on a hill. From a distance, you can see that the mountain peaks are like tiger’s back, claws, whiskers and so on. They are very realistic. We climbed up along the mountain road. Along the way, we saw dense forests, bright wild flowers, leisurely cattle and sheep, lively small animals, clear streams and flying waterfalls. We stopped from time to time to take pictures and marvel at the beauty and wonder of nature.

It took us about two hours to reach the top of the mountain. Standing on the top of the mountain, we could overlook the whole park scenery and also see the terrain of Hebei and Shanxi provinces. There is a vast grassland on the top of the mountain. The wind blows low grasses to reveal cattle and sheep. We rested on the grassland for a while and enjoyed the cool breeze and warm sunshine. We also met some other tourists who were very friendly and enthusiastic. We exchanged some travel experiences and feelings with each other.

After staying on the top of the mountain for about an hour, we started to go down. We followed another route down the mountain, which was steeper and more exciting. Some places required ropes and iron ladders to pass. We walked down carefully, while enjoying the scenery from different angles, and feeling the pleasure of challenging ourselves.

We arrived at the foot of the mountain in the evening, and finished our tour of Tiger Head Mountain. Tiger Head Mountain left a deep impression on us. It not only had beautiful natural scenery, but also rich wildlife resources and historical and cultural relics. It was a place worth visiting.

After going down the mountain, we started our preparation work for night hunting. Night hunting is a way of exploring and appreciating nature by using special equipment, such as night vision binoculars and infrared binoculars, to observe and photograph the activities of wild animals at night. Night hunting is not really killing animals, but a way of exploring and appreciating nature. Night hunting can let us see animals that we usually can’t see, and also let us feel the mystery and excitement in the dark.

To carry out night hunting, we need to prepare the following aspects:

  • Equipment: We need to choose suitable equipment to see animals and environment clearly in the dark. We chose two different types of binoculars: night vision binoculars and infrared binoculars. Night vision binoculars are devices that use micro-light amplifiers to amplify weak ambient light by thousands of times, so that human eyes can see objects in the dark. Infrared binoculars are devices that use infrared sensors to detect temperature differences on the surface of objects, and generate a thermal imaging image, so that human eyes can see objects that emit heat in the dark. These two types of binoculars have their own advantages and disadvantages. Night vision binoculars can show more details and colors, but they need some environmental light sources, such as moonlight or starlight. Infrared binoculars can work in complete darkness, but they can only show temperature differences, not colors and shapes. We decided to use both types of binoculars at the same time, so that we can switch them in different situations. In addition to binoculars, we also prepared some other equipment, such as flashlights, compasses, maps, water bottles, snacks, cameras and so on.
  • Route: We need to choose a suitable route to find more wild animals in the park. We referred to the official website of the park and some travel guides, and determined a rough route. We planned to start from the entrance of the park, walk along the lake to the foot of Tiger Head Mountain, then climb up along the mountain road to the top of Tiger Head Mountain, rest there for a while, then walk down along another mountain road to Tiger Head Cave, explore the inside of the cave there, and finally return to the entrance of the park along the stream. This route takes about four hours to complete, passing through the most important attractions and ecological areas in the park.
  • Precautions: We need to pay attention to some safety and environmental protection matters, so as to avoid danger and damage to the environment in night hunting. We followed the rules of the park, not entering prohibited areas at will, not catching or hurting animals, not picking or destroying plants, not littering or throwing matches, not making noise or playing music, not leaving the team or getting lost at will, not camping or barbecuing in non-designated areas, not carrying dangerous or prohibited items, etc. We also paid attention to some personal safety matters, such as wearing suitable clothes and shoes, carrying some first aid supplies and communication tools, keeping healthy and energetic physically and mentally, seeking help and calling police in time when encountering danger, etc.

This is our preparation work for night hunting. After these preparations, we are full of confidence and expectation for night hunting. We believe that in the dark of Tiger Head Forest Park, we will surely find some wonderful and wonderful things.

After completing the preparation work for night hunting, we started our night hunting trip. Night fell, and the scenery and atmosphere of the park changed. The park that was originally lively and noisy became quiet and mysterious, and the park that was originally bright and colorful became dark and hazy. We picked up our binoculars, turned on our flashlights, and walked along our route.

We first came to the lake, where the lake water was shining with silver light under the moonlight, and some water plants and water flowers were floating on the lake. We used night vision binoculars to observe the animals by the lake, and found some water birds, water rats, frogs, etc. We also saw some fish swimming in the water, sometimes jumping out of the water, splashing some water.

We walked from the lake to the foot of Tiger Head Mountain, where the trees on the mountain swayed in the wind, making some rustling sounds. We used infrared binoculars to observe the animals on the mountain, and found some foxes, wild rabbits, squirrels, etc. We also saw some birds nesting on the trees, sometimes making some calls.

We climbed from the foot of the mountain along the mountain road to the top of Tiger Head Mountain, where we rested for a while. The wind on the top of the mountain was cooler and fresher, and the starry sky on the top of the mountain was brighter and more spectacular. We used night vision binoculars to observe the animals on the top of the mountain, and found some mice, bats, mantises, etc. We also saw some fireflies flickering in the air, like reflections of stars.

We walked down from the top of the mountain along another mountain road to Tiger Head Cave, where we explored the inside of the cave. The temperature inside the cave was much lower than outside, and the air inside the cave was much more humid than outside. There were many strange-shaped stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave, some of which were shining with crystal light. We used infrared binoculars to observe the animals inside the cave, and found some spiders, scorpions, earthworms, etc. We also saw some cave fish swimming in the water, without eyes or pigment.

We came out of the cave and returned to the entrance of the park along the stream, ending our night hunting trip. The stream was sparkling under the moonlight, and there were many flowers and rocks by the stream. We used night vision binoculars to observe the animals by the stream, and found some snails, dragonflies, butterflies, etc. We also saw some crayfish crawling in the water, sometimes fighting with each other.

This is our night hunting process and feelings. We saw a lot of animals that we usually can’t see in night hunting, and also felt a lot of mystery and excitement that we usually can’t feel in night hunting. We are full of joy and satisfaction for night hunting, and also full of awe and love for nature. We think that night hunting is a very interesting and meaningful activity, which can make us understand and appreciate nature’s mystery and beauty better.

We gained a lot in this trip. We not only appreciated Tiger Head Forest Park’s beautiful scenery, but also experienced night hunting’s excitement and fun. We also tasted local food, such as tiger head tofu, tiger head cake, tiger head fish, etc. These foods are named after tiger head, implying bravery and strength. We think these foods are delicious and characteristic, worth a try.

This is an unforgettable trip. We are also full of awe and love for nature, hoping to protect these precious resources, so that more people can enjoy nature’s grace. We also cherish and appreciate our friendship between college classmates, hoping to maintain this connection, and continue to share our lives and experiences.
