I have always enjoyed hunting, feeling that it is a way to challenge myself and enjoy nature. So when I heard about Bones Hill Cemetery in Alabama, where you can go hunting at night, I decided to go there with my two friends Michell Cronin and Simon Buck. We are all hunting enthusiasts and we have night vision binoculars, which are essential tools for night hunting, allowing us to see targets and the surrounding environment in the dark. We planned to stay there for a week, and besides hunting, we also wanted to visit other attractions in Alabama and try the local cuisine. This was our first time in Alabama, and we were full of curiosity and anticipation.
Bones Hill Cemetery is an ancient cemetery located in Wilcox County, Alabama, with a history of over 200 years. The name of this cemetery comes from a legend that in the 19th century, a fire destroyed a nearby village, leaving only the cemetery on a small hill unscathed. However, because the fire was too fierce, the coffins in the cemetery were burned open, and the bones scattered on the ground formed a white bone hill. Since then, this cemetery has been called Bones Hill Cemetery and has become a tourist attraction for locals and tourists.
We booked a hunting permit online to enter the cemetery for hunting at night. We heard that there are many wild animals here, such as deer, foxes, raccoons, and also some legendary supernatural phenomena, such as ghosts, monsters, and vampires. We were interested in all of these and wanted to experience the excitement and fun of night hunting.
We rented a car and a tent near the cemetery and drove to the entrance of the cemetery every evening, then walked into the cemetery. We all brought our own firearms and ammunition, as well as night vision binoculars. Night vision binoculars are important tools for our hunting, which can help us see targets and the surrounding environment in the dark. We all bought the latest night vision binoculars, which have high-definition picture quality, magnification, infrared function, and so on. It made us feel like we were in a movie.
When we hunted in the cemetery, we felt very excited and nervous. We not only had to pay attention to the movements and locations of animals, but also had to pay attention to obstacles such as tombstones and trees. We also had to be careful not to hit or be hit by others, as there were other hunters in the cemetery. We used night vision binoculars to find targets and aim for shooting, as well as to observe the surrounding situation and communicate information. We often saw strange things, presented in different colors and shapes in the night vision binoculars. Sometimes they were animals, sometimes they were human shadows, sometimes they were unknown things. We didn’t know whether these were real or illusions, but we were all curious and excited.
We hunted in the cemetery for a week, with different harvests and experiences every day. We caught some wild animals such as deer, foxes, and raccoons, and also encountered some thrilling and dangerous situations, such as accidental injury or being accidentally hit, encountering hostility from other hunters or locals, and hearing or seeing some terrible sounds or shadows. We also had some interesting and humorous moments, such as joking with each other, taking pictures, sharing stories and experiences. When we hunted in the cemetery, we felt like we were in another world, full of challenges and adventures, as well as fun and friendship. This is an unforgettable experience in our lives.
Besides hunting, we also visited other attractions in Alabama and tasted the local cuisine. Alabama is a place with a rich history and culture, as well as beautiful natural scenery and diverse entertainment activities. We stayed in the towns near the cemetery for a few days, and went to different places every day. Here are some places we have been to:
Birmingham Zoo: This is a large and great zoo with many kinds of animals, such as elephants, lions, tigers, pandas, giraffes, etc. We saw many cute and interesting animals there, and also participated in some interactive and performance activities, such as feeding, horse riding, watching dolphin shows, etc. We spent a pleasant afternoon there.
Birmingham Civil Rights Institute: This is a museum about the civil rights movement, displaying some important events and figures in Alabama and the United States in the 1960s, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church, etc. We learned a lot about history and society there, and also felt the suffering and struggle of the people at that time.
U.S. Space and Rocket Center: This is a museum about space and rockets, displaying some achievements and plans of NASA, such as the Apollo program, the International Space Station, Mars probes, etc. We saw many real spacecraft and rocket models there, and also participated in some simulation and experience activities, such as sitting in a simulated spacecraft, wearing a space suit, experiencing weightlessness, etc. We felt the charm and challenge of space exploration there.
In addition to visiting attractions, we also tasted the local cuisine. Alabama has rich agricultural and fishing resources, so there are many fresh and delicious foods. We tried some local specialties such as seafood (crabs, shrimp, oysters, etc.), barbecue (pork, beef, chicken, etc.), cornbread (a kind of bread made from cornmeal), peanut soup (a sweet soup made from peanuts), etc. We thought these foods were all delicious and had local flavor.
Our hunting and travel in Alabama was a very memorable and meaningful experience. We not only enjoyed the fun and excitement of hunting, but also appreciated the history and culture of Alabama, and tasted the local cuisine. We think Alabama is a charming and distinctive place worth visiting. We also thank our friends who made our trip more interesting and warm. We hope to have the opportunity to go to Alabama again and explore more places and things.
