Hunting with Night Vision Binoculars: A Mysterious and Exciting Trip in Alabama

hunting

I am someone who loves outdoor sports and adventures. I have two like-minded friends, Webb Perkin and Theodore Keats. We often go to different places together to engage in various exciting and interesting activities. Last week, we decided to go hunting at the Burris cemetery in Alabama. Burris cemetery is a historic cemetery where some paranormal activities are said to take place. We wanted to experience this mysterious place while also enjoying the fun of hunting. As night hunting was involved, a night vision binocular was an essential equipment. We chose a high-definition and high-magnification low-light night vision binocular that allowed us to see farther and clearer in the dark. In this article, I will share with you our hunting trip experience and feelings, as well as our insights and evaluation of using the night vision binocular.

The night vision binocular was one of our important equipment for the hunting trip. It allowed us to see animals and the environment in the dark, thereby improving our hunting efficiency and safety. We chose a Folgtek 12×42 high-definition binocular with the following features and advantages:

  • It can magnify up to 10 times, with a 42mm objective lens and a range of 1000 yards. This means that it can allow us to see far and with clear images.
  • It is made of high-quality coatings and high-quality prisms, ensuring bright and clear images. It also has a multi-layered design with a 5.6° field, allowing us to see a wider vision.
  • It has low night vision function, which can be used in low-light conditions. It is not an infrared night vision device, so it does not emit red light and will not be detected by animals.
  • It has an IPX7 waterproof and fog-proof design, which can adapt to most adverse weather conditions. It also has a durable metal material and soft rubber eyepiece cover and lens cover, which can protect the binoculars from damage.
  • It comes with a phone and tripod adapter, which can allow us to take pictures or record videos of what we see with our phones, or fix the binoculars with a tripod to reduce shaking.

Using the night vision binocular was simple. We only needed to follow these steps:

  • Adjust the distance between the eyepieces to align them with our eyes.
  • Adjust the central focus wheel to make the image clear for the left eye.
  • Adjust the focus ring on the right eyepiece to make the image clear for the right eye.
  • Adjust the central focus wheel to make the image clear for both eyes.
  • If we need to use a phone or tripod, we can install the adapter on the right eyepiece and then fix the phone or tripod on the adapter.

Using the night vision binocular brought us many benefits. We were able to observe the behavior and habits of animals in the dark, find the best shooting positions and opportunities, and enjoy the beautiful night scenery, such as stars, moon, and shadows. We also used our phones to record our hunting process and achievements to share with others. In short, the night vision binocular made our hunting trip more interesting and successful.

Our hunting trip lasted for three days and two nights, during which we experienced many interesting or thrilling events. The following is our hunting diary:

On the first day, we arrived at the Burris cemetery in the afternoon, checked into a nearby hotel, and then went to a restaurant near the cemetery for dinner. The restaurant owner was a friendly old man who told us some stories about the cemetery, saying that there were ghosts and monsters there and we should be careful. We found it amusing and didn’t pay much attention to it. After dinner, we returned to the hotel, prepared our night vision binocular and other equipment, and then set off for hunting at the cemetery. By the time we arrived at the cemetery, it was already past nine o’clock at night, and the sky was completely dark. We used the night vision binocular to observe the surroundings and found some small animals moving in the bushes, such as rabbits, squirrels, and hedgehogs. We decided to practice our shooting skills by first targeting small animals before looking for bigger targets. We spread out to find suitable positions and timing. I soon spotted a rabbit eating grass behind a tombstone. I quietly approached it, aimed at its head, and gently pulled the trigger. Bang! The rabbit fell down. I happily ran over, picked up the rabbit, and put it in my backpack. I sent a message to my friends with my phone, telling them that I had hit my first target.

On the second day, we hunted at the cemetery until after 2 a.m. During that time, we each caught several small animals, but didn’t find any large game. Feeling a bit tired, we decided to return to the hotel to rest. After returning to the hotel, we cleaned and processed our game, and then put it in the refrigerator to preserve. We also uploaded the videos and photos we took with our phones to social media to share with others. We received a lot of likes and comments, with some people praising our skill and courage while others questioned our morality and legality. We didn’t pay much attention to these comments, only feeling that we had a good time. After washing up, we went to bed, ready to continue hunting the next day.

The next morning, the hotel owner woke us up by knocking on our door. He told us that a police officer wanted to talk to us. We were very confused and didn’t know what was going on. After getting dressed, we followed the owner to the lobby where we saw a uniformed police officer and a man in a suit. The police officer introduced the man in the suit as the head of a local animal protection organization. He had seen the videos and photos we posted on social media and believed that our actions were illegal and cruel, and he demanded that the police investigate and punish us. We were very surprised and had no idea what we had done wrong. We explained to the police officer that we were only doing it for entertainment and to challenge ourselves, without harming any protected animals or damaging any public property. We also said that we had legal hunting permits and firearm licenses, and that we followed the rules and time limits for hunting. After hearing our explanation and examining our documents, the police officer told us that they had not found any evidence of wrongdoing, but they still wanted to remind us that hunting is a risky and responsible activity, and that we should respect the lives of animals and the balance of the environment, without excessive or uncontrolled hunting. They also said that Briggs Cemetery is a place of historical and cultural value, and we should be careful not to damage or pollute it. The man in the suit was not satisfied with the police officer’s response and warned us that they would continue to monitor our behavior and take legal action if they found any negative effects or consequences. He also said that they would expose our actions to the society and media, and let more people know and condemn us. We thought this man was being unreasonable and boring, but we didn’t want to argue with him, so we kept silent. After the matter was settled, the police officer told us that we could leave. We thanked the police officer for his understanding and help, and then went back to our room. We felt depressed and angry about the matter, but it didn’t affect our plan to continue hunting.

In addition to hunting, we also visited some local attractions and restaurants during the day to enjoy the local customs and cuisine. Here is our travel diary:

On the afternoon of the second day, we went to a place called the Alabama State Museum, which showcases the state’s history, culture, art, and nature. We saw some exhibitions about the Civil War, the Civil Rights Movement, astronaut training, etc., as well as some exhibits about local animals, plants, minerals, fossils, etc. We were very interested in these exhibits and learned a lot. We also bought some souvenirs at the museum’s shop, such as postcards, key chains, hats, etc.

In the evening, we went to a place called the Alabama State Park, which has a very large and beautiful lake called Lake Martin. We rented a small boat by the lake and enjoyed the scenery while rowing the boat. We saw the reflections on the lake, the trees on the shore, the mountains in the distance, and some fish swimming in the water. We felt very relaxed and comfortable, and took some photos. We also had dinner at a restaurant by the lake, which had many local specialties such as roasted chicken, corn cakes, french fries, etc. We thought these dishes were delicious and affordable.

On the morning of the third day, we went to a place called the Alabama State Zoo, which has many animals from around the world, such as elephants, lions, tigers, pandas, giraffes, etc. We walked around the zoo, saw the animals’ lives and performances, and found them cute and smart, some even interacted with visitors. We fed some animals, touched their fur, and took photos with them. We had a great time at the zoo and gained more knowledge and respect for these animals.

This hunting trip was the most unforgettable experience for me and my friends. We not only enjoyed the pleasure and challenge of hunting, but also appreciated the local scenery and cuisine, and learned a lot about the history and culture of Alabama. We used night vision binoculars to make our hunting more successful and safe, and also saw different night views. We were very satisfied with this binoculars and thanked it for its help and experience. We hope to have the opportunity to use it again and go to more places for more exploration and adventure. We also hope that through this article, more people can understand and appreciate hunting as a sport, respect animals and nature, and feel the charm and style of Alabama.
